Candy Land Jewels

Do you remember the game, "CandyLand"? How about the house made of sweets that Hansel and Gretal nibbled at? My latest necklace and bracelet creation reminds me of those childhood memories. They also remind me of the big top circus shows. Lots of bright colors. Since these gems are made of man-made resin, there is no significance to these jewels, except to have fun! I call these creations, "Carnival". The bracelet is $8.00 and the necklace is $10.00.

What Gemstones Symbolize

I was reminded that each gemstone carries with it, its own separate meaning (Thank you Nathalie). Beginning today, I will try to incorporate each stones symbolism into the jewelry description.

My most recent addition to my site is a silver bracelet with twisted amber-colored glass and tiny clear glass accent beads. Amber is suppose to heighten creativity, help you to accept change, and follow your dreams. Clear crystal is the most powerful, versatile multi-purpose healing stone! Particularly regarding self esteem, and healing the wounds of a neglectful or abusive childhood. This stone will not allow you to wallow in self-pity over that which you can not change! It amplifies the energy of all other stones and increases your emotional energy.

The beads remind me of the color of the sand as the sun sets for the evening, like the famous Sanibel island in Florida known for its wonderful beach. The piece, "Sanabelle", spelled slightly different from the island, is $12.00.

Moonstone and Agate Necklace

I have always loved different rocks. At one time I thought I would become a geologist and spend my life studying rock formations. Instead, I create jewelry from stones and gems. My latest inspiration was a piece of blue-grey agate. It paired beautifully with some moonstone beads. It took awhile to get a photo, but here it is.

In the Eastern cultures, Moonstone was favored for LOVE. They believed that wearing or carrying a moonstone would bring a new love into your life. They also believe that holding a piece of moonstone over their hearts after a quarrel, and then exchanging the stones with each other, would bring you back together.

The blue agate is banded. Agates with banded colors were placed at the head of a sleeper to give rich and varied dreams. It's considered a protection stone and believed to attract strength and offer protection from bad dreams, stress and the draining of energy. Some followers of Pagan religions also believe agate is a crystal whose powers can be used for love, mental clarity, and good luck in card games.

Car Repairs and Jewelry - a lesson in creativity

Who knew that repairing a car and making jewelry would have so much in common? My brother was helping me fix my silver, classic beauty on four wheels, when he asked if I had needle-nose pliers. "My jewelry pliers are needle-nose," I replied. Then he asked if I had side-cutters. Back I went to my supplies and dug out a pair. Finally, he needed another pair of pliers, very fine tips, preferably rounded. Wouldn't you know it, I use those to make intricate loops.

I was amazed that every tool he required, including crimpers, was in my jewelry kit. You can find solutions in the most unique places. You just need to think out the box.
